OzGreen/CuriousWorks Digital Media Workshop – Notes for Day 1

We then did some assessments of our local skills and resources. These then fed in to the afternoon where we played a ‘project development’ game. Maps To Visualize Networks of Stories
November 15th, 2009 by CuriousWorksI’ve been doing a bit of research on how to visualize networks of stories and media. Maps are an excellent way to accomplish this, particularly Google Maps which allows anyone with a Google Account to collaboratively edit online maps. By placing markers on maps, one can embed text, images and video. With some clever use of media, smart strategies can be developed and connected to network-wide initiatives.
Why is this important? It gives life to your cause by illustrating its global context.
You can do this by:
- Grab the public’s attention with visual mappings of an issue. Showing the scope of a problem can give the public better perspective on what your group is trying to accomplish.
- Bring your projects to life with dynamic, interactive maps that can educate and inspire.
- Embed maps on your website or blog to engage your supporters.
